![]() ![]() It's running 650b x 2.1 Schwalbe GOne Bites = they roll well! The stays are a little shorter and I do notice it climbs the gnarly stuff a bit better than the Space Horse on par with the Cosmic Stallion. It's a fun bike and I'd like to try with skinner rubber to directly compare with Space Horse on Gravel Roads. It's a custom build with carbon wheels, hence lighter than a stock GM. Recently got my GF a Gorilla Monsoon which I take out for a spin at times.I do find the Cosmic Stallion a better climber when the going gets tough, but both bikes are very close.to perfect for me (fit and performance). I've upgraded it with a front Carbon Fork and it is superb. I love both and quite honestly, nothing wrong with the Space Horse. Alternatively, the Space Horse seems more flexible than the Cosmic Stallion (I can fit a front rack to it for touring).Best to try and seek it out and try before you buy. None in stock in Ottawa, so I cannot test ride one. The new 2021 GM can easily fit a double :) but I'm concerned about the Bottom Bracket drop, or lack thereof. But for Gravel or Road riding, you will be left behind. If you mostly ride trail, a 1x is plenty for the GM and short gears a plenty. And with a double, I get a greater range of gears. For the type of riding I do, I run 700x43 mm or 650b x 48 mm (Panaracer) rubber. The fact that it is not easy to fit a front Double Chainring is a limiting factor.But.there is always something holding me back on getting one. The Gorilla Monsoon is on my radar as well, and has been for 2 years now. Update: now own a Gorilla Monsoon as well! Get 1 in Fade Green. But if you don't wanna spend the extra $500, the Tiagra should work just fine. It's definitely nicer, especially with the hydro brakes. GRX is Shimano's new gravel specific groupo. I normally ride 55cm or so, but my macho man is a 52 cm (54.5 cm TT, 54 cm seat tube).Īs for GRX vs Tiagra, it's honestly up to you how much you wanna spend. SH also has clearance for 700c x 42mm, which is more than enough clearance, imo, if you wanna hit gravel. That being said, I run a 1x11 SRAM Rival/Force drivetrain for my gravel bike and it works just fine for me on the road. ![]() You'd probably feel some lack of gearing options with a 1x system on tarmac. If you are sticking to mostly tarmac with some gravel sprinkled in, then the space horse should have you covered. I'd only go with the GM if you plan on doing more gnarly gravel rides - simply because of the 650b high volume/low pressure option along with the dropper + the 1x drive train.
